Interview With Auto Body Shop Owner, Patrick Sampoll - Where Are They Now

After the doors are clean and scuffed tape them off and there ready for paint. I decided to use water borne paint, 3 coats of jet black for the base coat using an air dryer between coats. Then two coats of jc6700 clear with 15 minutes of flash time between coats.

First the jambs were cleaned with soap and water. Next, scuffed with a red scuff pad, then cleaned with wax and grease remover








To change the entire color of the truck to black we had to gut the doors and take them off to paint the jambs and backs of the doors. the rubber moldings and plugs had to be removed also.

Loaded with rust we cut away the old for the new panel to be welded in finding a little more rust then we expected. The wheel well was rusted through and needed replaced also. The inside of the bed panel was sprayed with rust control for future protection. I had trim on the new bed side patch panel so it would match up to the gas cap, it was tacked in using a mig welder ground smooth, covered in fiberglass sanded flush then filler. The bedside has no warpage and all the body lines match up
